Parcelforce - typical

There is nothing worse than waiting for a parcel to be delivered, I always get up at 7am and find myself still waiting at about 4pm!

If I know I'm going to be out I leave on the note on the door asking them to leave it with my neighbours

and then they leave a card at 3.55 saying they've knocked and no answer when you've been in all day.

Had a delivery coming from ParcelForce a couple of days ago to my office in Maidenhead, they decided to send it to the Stoke depot and give it a little tour of the area for a day before sending it on to me.

I did try and question why it had gone to the Stoke depot when it's being delivered to Maidenhead, but apparently the woman on the phone left her other brain cell at home and insisted Stoke was the delivery depot for Maidenhead....at which point I gave up and waited for the inevitable.

A nice invitation to thieves that though, it may as well say "No-one ine, help yourself!"

Last time I waited in for a parcel they koncked the wrong door (4 doors down, 67 instead of 71!) left a card then refused to redeliver so I had to go and pick it up! Good ol City Link!!

I once had a delivery guy try and put a leaflet through the door saying no-one was in when knocked, please collect from depo. I called after him. Turned out, he didn't have it with him, it was at the depot. Couldn't be bothered to bring it.
:bonk:

The sooner the post is privatised the better !!. Take care . Ron

Eh...no

if its private then where the hell am I going to go pick it up when its undelivered? Currently i can pick it up on the way home, its 1 min walk from the train station.

I was supposed to receive my new continuous ink system yesterday but it didn't show up. Got the supplier to chase FedEx this morning and they say no-one was in. Lying toe-rags. My office overlooks the road and no van even slowed down going past my gate - Grrrr.

I asked them to make sure the driver has my phone number and they said they can't call him for 'heath and safety reasons'. FFS Haven't they ever heard of text messages or lunch breaks :bang:

Last time this happened I had to throw a wobbly just to get them to deliver it rather than me have to drive an hour each way to pick it up. How can they say they tried to deliver when they didn't leave a card or bother calling the number on the delivery note - and I've been in all day on both days they claim to have tried :bang:

Parcelforce delivered an item to me to the local library once - I refused to go and collect it from there, so they grudging re-collected and then dumped it with a random neighbour.

They left a card - with the neighbour! - so I had no idea where it was. So I sent them to collect it again. Finally got it after 13 days..!!!

Well I am glad that I am not the only one sitting around waiting, not for Parcel Force but "CITY LINK"....Tracking tells me delivery will be today, shame they cant give me an indication of time of day.
I have had this before, I dare not go out as if I miss them I will have to waste another day waiting, or go to my local "citylink" depot which is a mere 25miles down the road !!

I got home today to find a nice box waiting for me with my new 40D in it. Good thing the kids are on school holidays!! My eldest was moaning that the postman woke him up he he.

City link are awful. Local depot for me is ~ 1 hour 20 from me. Their automated re-scheduling doesn't work either.

Ok let me put another side.
Yesterday I had a next day delivery, arrive at the house, front door open, so ring the very loud bell......................no response.............. ring again...................still no response although I can hear voices and and crockery sounds coming from inside. start to write out a card and someone, assuming son comes down the stairs, looks and me, and carries on into the back of the house :bang::bang:
So I finish writing out the card and walk away, what else can you do ?

fortunately i havent had any courier issues for some time now.. even sent 400 quids worth of stuff with PF and it was collected and delivered promptly and hassle free..

Well they have 1 hour 15mins left to get my WE delivery to me... working till then anyway but if it does not turn up will be well peeved!

I'm in most days and am happy to accept deliveries for neighbours BUT I have had a CityLink driver try to dump stuff for a road a mile away! Like I said, I'm happy to take stuff in for neighbours but not to act as a final delivery service. I always sign as "Unexamined" followed by my name just in case there's a problem with the goods.

You've never had to deal with UPS (sent half the delivery to Edinburgh instead of Glasgow) or Fedex (sent the package to Maidstone ) have you? Parcelforce are fantastic by comparison:lol:

For the main Parcelforce have been good for me.

Now Citylink. I dont know what to say about them. I hate it when items get delivered by them, As my house doesnt seem to exist. They always deliver it about 1mile up the road to somebody else house. As they miss the first part of my address out and the road i live on is massive.

So after 2days i didnt recieve anything, Rang them and they said they have been trying to deliver it and left cards etc. So after 4days i got it. I payed £8 extra aswell to get it on Next Day Delivery :bang:

I had a good one ,guy knocked door ,when wife answered it, he said sign this please...she said what's it for ,he said american fridge freezer? she said not here mate, yes it is, he said...believe me ITS NOT HERE!!... yes he probably bought it for you for a surprise....LOOK we already have a new one.. him and his mate offloaded the fridge then went, saturday morning it was..we found out that the fridge was for a neighbour a few doors away with the same sir-name ...my wifes name is louise richards my neighbours name is lee richards..we have had money removed from our bank in the past because of this, buts thats another story..

There is no such thing as a perfect service. I never understood why they would try to deliver to a random number a few doors down and leave me waiting until the next day.

But as has been said, it's not always down to the actual driver - so don't shoot the messenger.

I work for royal mail (not parcel force though) and i had my mp3 player delivered to the wrong house, not even on the right road! i waiting in all day for the delivery, checked the website the next day only to see it had been delivered and signed for, checked the signature (it wasn't mine) you can imagine how i felt :annoyed:. Anyway i wrote down the name from the signature and next day at work asked the postman who does my area if he knew who it might be. Luckily he did and told me it was number 26 at the cresent (i live in the gardens) he also told me the family was quite dodgy.
Anyway i contacted parcel force with this information and they went round and got it back and delivered it to me. Luckily although the parcel had been opened up the mp3 player box inside was still in the cellophane.

The moral of this story is: Parcel Force aint worth a toss!

City Link...... :cuckoo: Last year I ordered some computer stuff - urgent - paid for pre-12 next day.

Waited 'till after 12. No delivery. Phoned City Link - they made some excuse about waiting in case they were delayed. Waited 'till nearly 4:00pm. Called again. Explained again. Eventually told it had been 'put on the wrong van'. So, while this was pretty inconvenient I said they could deliver the next day - a Saturday.

Only they would not. My sender had 'not paid for a Saturday delivery'. So despite them not fulfilling their part of their contract by being useless wasters they would not consider anything that might make the customer a little less unhappy. The vendor did eventually compensate me for City Links mistake! :bang:

City Link customer service stinks. I try my hardest never to buy anything that is going to be delivered by them and I'll NEVER use them to send anything.

This happend to my mate also. He rang City Link and the just feed him loads of bull. He explained he needed it thats why he payed alot more to get it before 12 Next Day. In the end he didnt get it as he went on holiday and it was left with next door.

Ebuyer always seem to use City Link which is pants!!.

Go round to the back door? Knock a window? Shout down the hallway?
What's the point in leaving a card if you know someone's there?

I call 'em ParcelFORGE since the delivery guy signed my signature with a squiggle when I ordered my BG-E4!

if youve got a van full of parcels that all need deliverying within a specified time, do you really have the time to waste chasing someone that really should be able to hear the doorbell?

personally i think citylink have improved loads since i had issues with them about 8 years ago..

Some fool in Church Stretton refused to sign for a delivery I had for him once.
I was stood in his shop doorway with the parcel and he was on the pavement. He said I'd have to come back when he'd walked his dog, I said we don't do timed delivery and he can sign for it now.
He refused and walked off, so I brought it back as a refused delivery. We got paid for refused parcels so that was ok.

People seem to think that a driver has nothing to do but bring one parcel to them and go home, the reality of it is very different. A lot of the mistakes are made before a driver ever sees the parcel and if a driver does make a mistake you know about it when you get back to the depot!
It really is a case of don't shoot the delivery guy.

Every delivery I have that is made by CityLink goes to the wrong address - it's always the same address, but it's always wrong. In the Wakefield Area there are 2 streets with the same name as mine - one 3 miles east of the centre of town in one village, and one 5 miles west of centre in another village. So, every time, I check tracking, to be told that they've attempted delivery, and left a card as there's nobody home. Now, there's always someone home (even if i'm not, my Dad's housebound and takes deliveries), but there's never a card. So - I ring them, explain that they do this regularly, and ask if they'll check that they went to the correct village, rather than just the first street with the correct name that the GPS threw up, Most of the time I get the parcel after another couple of hours, and the driver usually grudgingly apologises. Having said that, it depends on who you get in customer support, and sometimes they won't contact the driver " for H&S reasons..." i.e. they can't be bothered to. Then I end up getting them to re-deliver, and it goes back to the person in the wrong village.

As you can imagine, I now try and buy from places that don't use CityLink as the courier.

Parcelforce, in comparison, are parcel delivering gods!

Well it never turned up yesterday... It's 12 noon and still not here today... why am I paying for Next Day delivery???

What a joke... will be getting onto WE on Monday as away for a photography weekend now - 1 set of tripod legs i'd hoped to have!

Annoyed!

Just as I hit send... the parcel force bloke walked through the office door... must rant more often!

Got to say - the City Link drivers I get have always been fine. In my case - they could not be expected to deliver a package they hadn't got.

It is the scum that run the business that are the problem - they think the system is for their benefit not the people they are delivering for (or too). It's a service you numpties - offer some and stop hiding behind anonymous call centre phone systems. (I think they even fleece their employees as well)

And I love Parcel Force. Due to where I live I'm one of the first on the route. Delivery (usually) by 8:00am. I'll chose to pay a bit more for something if the seller uses them.
