Can you install windows7 and osx on the same machine as a dual boot.:shrug:.....i have done it with vista and 7 but would like to try osx and replace vista..

Is this Possible and if so How??:thinking:

Possible: Yes, depending on hardware.
Legal: No.
 
No problem on a Mac. Just run Bootcamp.

On a PC it's a bit more tricky. You will need to make sure that your hardware is compatible with OS X and hope that everything works.

It's not illegal if you buy the OS X installation DVD, it just breaks the OS X Eula, which you may be able to get around by placing an Apple sticker on the PC. (Apple Eula states that you can install OS X on an Apple branded computer only, but they do not state what actually constitutes an Apple branded machine).

In any case the easiest thing to do is to buy a Mac and install Windows using bootcamp. Even low end Macs are fairly decently specced in PC terms (which is why they cost so much) and Windows runs really well.

Somehow I don't think you will get away with that:nono:

I'm pretty sure Apple wouldn't leave a loophole that big in their EULA, but if you want to test their lawyers go ahead.

while im not condoning breaking the EULA, if youre buying OSX legally i suspect apples lawyers would be more interested in persuing software pirates who obtain the software illegally and/or redistribute it.

technically its not "illegal" its a civil matter.
 
I would think Apple could not care less if you put OSX on your PC, they don't want Dell to put it on their machines, but how in hell would they find out if you did or not.

I read load of replies to question like this, all saying it's against the EULA so don't do it, all from people who never ever drive above the speed limit :shake:

As Neil has said Apple do not go after individuals it really is not worth their time. If you have an Apple computer then it is surprisingly easy to do, you can just boot W7 and install it on an empty drive or partition then use [ALT] to force the drive select menu when you boot. If you have an Apple computer with only one drive then you can either attach a firewire drive or use bootcamp. Bootcamp is very easy to follow.

IF however you do have a PC then we can't advise you because it is a breach of the rules on this site so GOOGLE.......
 
If you look at my top tips thread the very last couple of tips of the actual year are how to do it for FREE :) Not as good as the paid versions but cheaper :)
