Hi guys,

Is there any possible way, that I could set up a direct link between the main PC and my laptop to transfer files? Would a USB to USB work?

I'm looking at all possible options before I sit down with a 4GB memory stick and slowly transfer them and slowly destroy my life simultaneously.

Plus, i have about enough of a budget to buy a cable... :gag:

Thanks in advance

Does your router (I'm assuming you have one) not have a couple of ethernet ports? If not, you can back-to-back but you need a crossover patch cable (and you'll need to be careful setting your IP addresses...).

Thanks Andy, but thats sounds kind of confusing... we have a router which is in the loft... lol. Would that be one of the simplest methods?

Hi,

What OS are you running on the PC and the laptop?

Do you access the internet over wireless? if so are both machines up and running?

If you have both machines browsing the web then you can copy files between machines (you can share drives/folders on the PC then copy across the network to the laptop)

I happy to help...guide etc.....
