Hi all,

For a birthday surprise my wife has booked 3 nights just outside of Ashbourne for the upcoming bank holiday weekend.
Now I know there a lots of good locations but for me it's a question of visiting those that are accessible without having to walk considerable distances. Interested in hills, millstones and waterfall locations......padley gorge looks interesting as does derwent edge, Mam Tor but not sure how easy these locations are to reach.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks
Neil

Padley gorge is easy from grindleford train station cafe !

Dove Dale is nice - close to you and a very easy flatish walk from the car park.

You can drive almost to Stannage Edge up north. About 40m to walk up..

Hope you have better weather than I did last time - 3 solid days of heavy rain. Mind you
after all that the dam overflows were a bit special.

Swallet falls are close to the road but dodgy to get down to if wet!

Three shires is great but a 20 minutes walk from car

Lower clough is 10 minutes from car easy walk

Millstones are just down by surprise view in bolehill quarry in the silver birch trees

Mam tor is an easy ish walk! If you park just over the top on the back side

Both Curbar, Stannage edge and Higgor Tor are all short walks, and all have parking and easy paths.
