Hi,

Am thinking of getting a Peli 1510 to store my kit in, my question is though will it hold what I want, I am struggling to find anywhere local to pop and have a look, the kit I am looking to put in it is as follows,

Canon 7D (Gripped)
Canon 40D (gripped)
Canon 40D (un-gripped)
Canon EOS 50 (35m Film)
Canon 100-400
Canon 70-200 F4
Canon 24-70
Canon EF-S 60mm Macro
Canon 50mm F1.8
Sigma 10-20
Canon 430 EX Flash
Canon ST-E2
Various Accessorys such as Memory/Film/Light Metter/Studio flash Transmiter/Cable releases etc.

Am looking to get it with deviders rather than foam for flexibility, so does anyone have experiance with them with this amount of kit, and if so is it likly to fit, I know I have seen a site on the web thingy that showed various cases with different kit in but cant remember it or find it so if anyone knows of this then that would help as well.

Thanks in advance.

Peli 1510 won't be big enough - I can get two bodies and 5 lenses in mine.

Thanks Andrew, looks like a non starter then.

Thanks Ian, the pic in the review helps, has 2 of the lenses I have and with them and one of the bodies would not get the rest in by the looks of it,

So back to the drawing board, any sugestions on what would hold that lot.

1610 holds all my stuff if needs be.The longer lens will only fit diagonally, so if the goes in as well some other stuff won`t fit, depends where i`m going and what i`m doing TBH.

Stu, if you find yourself Leicester way, look in at Jacobs, they sometimes have Peli cases in the store, so you can see how big these things really are, i was surprised how small a 1510 actually was when i saw one !

The 1510 are small enough to go as hand luggage on most non-budget airlines Ian, I think they were made for that reason.

Though i`m probably wrong....again....:D

Yep that they are mate, just saying when i actually saw one it looked a lot smaller than i expected it to, compared to the pics i have seen :)

I have to take all my gear to the Ukraine in May Ian. Any idea where I can get a good solid Peli type case for the Big Sigma?

Blimey Ade, who have you upset now ? ;)

Best bet would be measure the lens as accurately as you can, get a big peli or storm case with foam in, with at least an inch over at either end, and cut out as accuratley as possible to hold the lens solidly, make sure you put BIG locks on the case as it will have to go in as hold luggage :(

Something like the 1610 may take it and a coupel of other bits, but keep bodies etc as carry on if you can and make sure the Sigmonster is insured for EVERYTHING !

Where in Ukraine are you going - I was there a couple of years ago.

to OP - try a peli 1560 - I also have one of these and they hold a lot of kit.

I`m doing a shoot for a HIV orphanage over there. I may get some time to myself and would kick myself if I did not take my gear with me.

Thanks for all the suggestions will look into them all.

See you in May/early June Ian..................

Andrew, going to Transcarpathia.

We use these: Explorer 5822

The Sigma 300-800 fits diagonally and there's room for other stuff too. I can photograph one if you like.

I was looking in calumet just befor Christmas - they have their own range now and one or two on wheels CLIKY CLIKY

They looked good  Not sure on how they fair on price though - they had foam included and you can buy other foam inserts for each case - depending on needs

Thanks for the replies and sugestions, will have a look at them but begining to think that any soluion may be on the very large size and impractible to be honest.

Ian, was not to bothered about airlines, was just thinking of a one case storage for travel around the UK in my car.

Sorry for the delay. here are some photos of an Explorer 5822 with a Sigma 300-800 inside it.

As you can see, there's a bit of room for other stuff. In some of the photos I've removed a block of foam to allow us to put a teleconverter in there. (Yes, there are people who want to hire a 300-800 and a teleconverter!!)

Ha ha. We once had a customer hire a 300-800 with a 2x TC. On his D300 he had 2400mm FF equivalent!! It was for some sort of covert surveillance job. I reckon with that setup you could take a recognisable photo of someone from 2-3km away....
