I'd be surprised if many people had owned both. The D2X is a lovely camera to use but it is a few years old now and it shows in terms of high iso performance, lack of live view, video etc and a fairly old AF system.
Where the D2x is superb is it's sheer build quality and the gripped body is a joy to use. Up to 8fps can be fun too. I would also add that at base iso, studio type conditions, it produces the finest images of any Nikon I've used, D700 included.
