Yes
Sorry to start such a pointless thread! I thought I would let off some steam, and issue a word of warning:D

Well, I have just finished unloading 2500 images from my 40D onto the laptop 7.5GB!

started about 8:30-9pm its now 02:35 AM! A-FU$*%NG-M (sowwy for the Fwench!)

I managed to watch through the No1 Ladies Detective Agency, The Departed and some other clap-trap!

And I still have to sort them, delete some, process them, print them!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!:help::bonk:

Let this be a warning! DONT LOOSE THE BOX THE CAMERA CAME IN THAT HAD ALL THE CABLES, CHARGERS AND INSTRUCTIONS A DAY AFTER YOU BUY THE CAMERA! looooool:lol:

So now im stuck with about half a year of medium-light use's worth of pics! Dunno what to do lol! I guess its my summer holiday gone!:lol::lol:

Anyway, photos will be up. eventually. hopefully!:woot:

Sandisk extreme III, Sandisk USB card reader, 12G done in around 30-45 mins, thereabout.

I have not use the cables in the box, i am sure i am not the only one.

I know, I know. I need a much faster card too. It was the only one I had lying about, and, me being lazy, the only one i bothered to use!

another message:

BUY A FAST MEMORY CARD!

:D

A faster memory card doesn't make a lot of difference compared to using a firewire cardreader instead of USB. That will halve or third the time taken.

Hmmm. A half or a third of the time would still mean having to sit through The ruddy Departed:lol:

Well, I be looking on 7 day shop as we speek!

And 7day shop aint got none!

Whats the make of yours? I be guessing Sandisk! does it run through the 1394c plug (the smaller one of the two.)?

Yes 1394 but unless you're going to be downloading massive amounts of images on a regular basis the extra cost of a firewire reader isn't worth it. Get a Sandisk usb2 reader, a decent card (like extreme III) and you'll be a happy man watching those images fly across the desktop.

Well, I get a bit snap-happy quite often, and I am either going to be doing a part-time/full time 'tog course later on this year so I think it will be a wise investment.....
