Photo restoration

Hey Guys,
I have this old picture of my Mum and Dad, and I have been trying to edit it a bit, too make it better quality and a bit newer looking.

I have had no luck... Just wondering if any of you more experienced guys could have a go?

I'm no expert, but a teak on the brightness and contract could work wonders, as well as cloning out some of the dust.

THe red eye would also be a simple fix.

Not done any restoration work before so thought I'd have a go. Here's my attempt..

Couldn't do much about the red cast so converted it to mono instead.
Some quick work with PS spot healing tool and a bit of sharpening and levels.
Taking more time on removing speckles etc would probably mean it could stand more sharpening.
