Hi Folks, I'm having issues uploading photos at the moment even a smaller than 1mb picture at 6x6 inches is getting me a message image too large for upload.

Just tried again with a 460kb file same message, the upload file is too large.

We are running out of disk space so I have dropped the limit to 250kB until we get something more permanent sorted out

I have just tried uploading images of between 93kb and 115kb, and get the message that the files are too large.

Never had problems with images of similar sizes last week.

I usually try to make my Flickr images 1024 pixels along the longest edge - never had a problem - I uploaded one this morning

Irrespective of physical file size, the logical size is also constrained to 1024 pixels on the longest side. Like Lez's in fact. We are reinstating the 500kb physical file size as well, although there seem to have been a few gremlins in the last day or two that poor old Sirch is trying to sort out.

Stuff linked from flickr is, of course being served from flickr not from directly from our server, the forum software does then apply some styling to the image tag to make it max 1024px on the longest edge. It is best to upload to flickr at 1024px or at least share to here as 1024px or less from flickr, otherwise the down sizing can cause loss of quality.
