Hi Guys,

I hope that this isn't as daft as a question as it sounds to me, but how do you go about taking pictures in the rain?

Simply an umbrella, or do you not go out in the rain?

I'm just thinking about protecting my equipment.

I'm always too busy singing in the rain :whistling:

I haven't done more than a light drizzle but I'd imagine it's fine as long as you have kit which is built to suffer the weather. Failing that a rain cover, you'll get wet but your kit won't.

A lot of different choices on ebay for a reasonable sum.

Personally I would go out with a brolly and try to ensure the brolly is not in the shot. Unless of course I had full weather sealed equipment... then I'd risk it!

I use a brolly, or a plastic bag and some elastic bands never fails :D

Been totally drenched - you just keep on shooting. :)

Photography in the rain 101:

1) Turn on camera
2) Press shutter
3) Revel in your photographic brilliance

:D :D :D

usually when it rains at rallies, stick the brolly shaft down inside my coat and hook it in my belt leaving me hands free :)

For cycling, I'll either stand under the boot of the car or lie down in the boot (this is where estate cars come in handy). If I can't park in the right place I put a plastic bag on the camera and get wet. I do like the look of cycing shots in the rain, so I'm happy :)

This one was taken on a particularly wet day, but on a course where I knew I could park in a gateway with the boot of the car facing the riders, so was sitting cross legged in the boot of the car. Rain did blow in, so still got soaked, camera stayed dry in it's carrier bag cover though.

I just carry on shooting, but I've only got one weatherproof lens so if I need another I have to resort to the platic bag. I've had my camera drenched in the North Sea and washed the salt off under a running tap so a bit of rain isn't really an issue!

yep clear plastic bag and elastic band over the lens hood is fine for rain
