Photography Magazines

i get digital camera every month and any others that i see that i am interested in.. i have about 4 years worth here.. and refer back to them.

maybe if i stoped just looking at the pictures and did read them it may help

Amateur Photographer - Weekly (Sub)
Practical Photography - Monthly (Sub)
EOS Magazine - Quarterly (Sub)

+ the odd one off-the-shelf if the cover catches my eye.

I subscribe to 4 mags. There was a deal last year for the first three, I think I got over 60% off with a £5 discount. They are all quite good to read in the bogs.

Photography Monthly
Digital Camera
Photoplus
and
EOS Magazine Quarterly

Over the last few years I have taken:

Practiacl Photography and Digital SLR at different times. Enjoy both but recently I would say the Digital SLR has the edge.

Not taking any at the moment, moved onto "Cycling Plus" for a bit, or at least until I buy my new road bike.

I don't bother with any now, but I used to regularly get Outdoor Photography, as landscapes are my favourite subject.

Digital Photo, many newbie type tutorials and all the post procssing features use elements / photoshop, cover CD with tutorial videos etc

I used to buy a random one every week or so... but it seems after about 12 months they all just recycle the contents between them! The only new stuff is kit reviews and i tend to use the internet for that :)

Absolutely true. The same topics are recycled with deadly regularity.
You buy them for a while, notice this and stop wasting money.

Photoplus - was the apprentice a year ago. The magazine has helped me hugely in getting experience and confidence with my camera!

See if anyone can guess with apprentice I was :) lol :)

I'm going to subscribe to Digital SLR magazine this month, 5 issues for £5 and you get a memory card holder thingy supposedly worth £12 :)

I also read Outdoor Photography, one of them has a thicker book out this month which is £10+ but looks really good.

I just browse through the magazines on display and buy one/two if I see anything that particularly interests me. I use the internet a lot more.

none - they all tell the same story year after year.

That's sadly true for most but when you're starting out they are pretty useful in their own way.

That said, I get Black and White Photography most issues and pick up British Journal of Photography and Amateur Photographer every so often. They have far less on technique ("If you do this, you'll have a photo that looks just like mine ...") and far more on photography in a wider sense.

Which Digital SLR magazine? There is Digital SLR User, Camera, and Photography - three different mags.

If it helps, the biggest seller is Digital Photo which sells an average of 68,000 per month, then Practical Photography (from the same stable) at 56,000. All of the others are in the 20-30,000 bracket, some less.

The ones that are a bit different to the mainstream are Outdoor Photography, British Journal of Photography, and Amateur Photographer to an extent. They are also amongst the lowest sellers.

thinkin of subscribin to Digital SLR photography (£5 for issues) and i buy AP every week.
