Sorry for the dodgy title, but I'm a bit undisciplined and have quite a few other hobbies to 'cope' with.

What I'm after is some kind of training system; kind of a weekly training plan.

I'm aware of ..MD..'s threat but haven't contributed, as yet.

I seem to be drifting a bit with my photography, without any real direction...

If any one has a training plan or any links, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks.

Thanks, but I've watched all the Samy vids (great BTW) and a lot of other stuff.

What I'm after, and I'll pay, if needed, is a training plan.

IE, week 1, learn setting on camera; week 2 use aperture priority to do X; week 3, you know what I mean??

I need photographic discipline....:geek:

Thanks.

Surely, if you don't do it by course of enjoyment, it isn't the hobby for you? I would hate for a hobby to become a chore...

It's far from a chore and a big hobby:)

People go to college/university to learn a subject - the learning is structured, but still enjoyable (at least it was for me!).

I've been looking a OU courses but funds are tight at the moment.

The OU has a structured training plan...that's what I'm after...

Thanks.

No offence meant, I suppose I just work in a different way to you! Maybe you could collect a set of shots other people have taken that have different styles and techniques required that you like the look of, and try to replicate one a week?

No worries, mate, and ditto..;)

Now I like your suggestion a lot!

It varies things up a bit - makes you do your research. It's how I like to learn. Too much structure and it makes it boring for me!

The idea of posting those links was to give you an idea on what to practise. Surely it isn't difficult to set yourself a little plan. Bit like MD's thread, week 1 try out different apertures for different DOF, week 2, try different shutter speeds to capture moving subjects sharp and blurred etc.

Learn the stops, (see 1st link), Take a picture in P mode, make note of esposure settings. Put camera in M mode then adust the same settings by, for example, reducing the shutter by 1 stop and increasing the aperture by 1 stop etc. Play and practice...

That sounds so booooooring! :p

Thanx dude! :'(

Sorry - it's probably fine for some people, but changing things one click at a time and reshooting the same thing again and again make jack a dull boy for me I'm afraid!

Although this thread isn't about me, so I'll shut up :bonk:

I agree, but it is just one of many self teaching techniques. Just trying to help! :p

No, your suggestion is very good Andrew!

Sounds like you need self disipline to me :D

Why not just follow MD's weekly thread and see where that takes you.
It's free and someone is telling you what to do.
It's similar to what Andy has suggested but you don't have to think of what to do!
