Have any of you guys manage to design a nice website for photography on iWeb??

I am starting a tutorial on iWeb in my top tips. I have so far explained how to create a photo page and a normal page plus upload it to an ISP. I will explain a lot more later but we have to start somewhere :)

My web site was created with iWeb.

I'll let you be the judge as to whether it's nice or not though :)

This is a brilliant site, wish i could produce one as clean and functional.

Its a shame this iweb thingy aint on a normal pc, damn macs lol!

It is very good for producing the basic site and allows a very good looking site with function that does not require any programming knowledge. I am writing a tutorial on the mac tips thread. You could always get a mac! I have a really decent macbook in the wanted section ;) for a swap.....

Personally I prefer DW for anything more complicated but iWeb is very good.

Grendel's site is a fine example.

Grendel, do you mind if I link to your site from my top tips as an example of what can be done then I can explain how you did it?

Feel free, I'd be honoured :)

I have had a look at your site and I think it is a really good example of an iWeb created site. Yes it's true you can do better using flash and by programming but most people have not got that ability and to be honest the photography should speak for itself! My upgrade your mac site is a naff example of a well built site but I rely on the contents rather than the flashy extras.

Thanks for the kind words about my site Cowasaki :)

I chose iWeb to create it because it seemed to be the application that had the most intuitive interface for someone like me who know next to nothing about html and programming.

THAT is the whole point. I can teach someone how to use iWeb in maybe 6 tips! There are whole books on Dreamweaver !!

I'd love to get a mac but unfortunately funds just wont allow at the moment.

Thanks for the info ***, think i'll have to look into hackintosh and see what all the fuss is about lol!

If you are not into Macs then setting up a Hackintosh might not be that easy, also if you are using an existing system then you may be out of luck as most pre-built 'builds' rely on a narrow band of components. Just a different sound card or network card can stop it booting.

I just learnt that the hard way lol!

Here was me thinking that it would be simple like dual booting vista and xp, but it seems not.

I'll give it a bash and see what happens one day, whats the worst that can happen lol!

I have 5 PCs lying around and none of them will install either hackintosh installation ! If you are building a PC from scratch specifically as a hackintosh then it is not too difficult to get it to work.

I've done some reading and think i'll give it a go on vmware.

Although owning an AMD setup im not gonna hold my breath on it working.

My website is also created in iWeb, www.grievephotography.co.uk

I like iweb as it is so easy to use, i love the way nearly everything is just drag and drop....

ekimeno... how did you get your homepage to play a selection of images as a slideshow.... on my website i have a picture on the homepage but have to keep changing it manually every week or so... is it easy enough to create a slideshow like that??

Cheers.

Chris

Guys when you alter your website and come to upload it to your webspace not mobileme your own... do you have to keep uploading everything again to get the site right or are you good and just uploading the alteration? if you are what the easy way to do this?

I do upload everything using an FTP client called Yummy FTP. You don't have to though, Yummy has a feature that allows directory synchronisation. I've just never looked into how to do it as it's so easy to just grab the whole folder and drop it onto the server :)

The latest update of iWeb allows you to upload just the changes you make even if your website is hosted on a non-mobileme server. This enables you to just use iWeb is you don't want to use a FTP program.
