Photoshop CS4 purchase

Indeed academic licensing is different - NHS staff licensing is the best of all, £8 for office pro IIRC :)

I went legal last year when my wife was registered as a full time student. Along with the rates reduction, I took the opportunity to buy Lightroom and CS3 at student prices :D

I have just been looking at the adobe website .

Does anybody know the difference between "student edition" and "standard education product"?

Student edition is for students only. I had to send off a copy of my wifes student card as proof. I think the other version is for schools/colleges.

Bargain, as currently full version of photoshop CS4 is £615.25, student is £155.25. Lightroom full is £228.25, student £90.85.

Looks about right. Student is for those in higher education. My 11 year old has just joined the photographic club at school. I bet that would count.

If student is under the age of 18 and does not have a valid, current Student ID with photo or credit card, the person purchasing the product for the student must provide a valid, current photo ID and corroborating evidence of student’s eligibility:

* Official, current non-photo student ID with name and date
* Official, current school transcript indicating name of school and student
* Official, current school tuition bill indicating name of school and student
* Official, current report card indicating name of school and student

As I mentioned before, there is an upgrade from PSE to CS4 which is half RRP, so no realy need to pay £600 either way at least.

Checking on the Adobe site, an upgrade from Elements 7 to CS4 is £539.35 for a hard copy posted to you, or £569.84 downloaded, thats £30.47 more for a download than a hard copy.

DO you have a link for the half price please.

Screen grab from Adobe's site.

If you look at UK pricing, against that of other countries (US for one), you will find that Camera's and Lenses are much cheaper, and not just software. This can of course be extended to many other non photography items. If travelling abroad it is worthwhile considering purchasing a bargain, instead of paying prices in rip-off Britain.
