Here's a small tip i learned quite recently.

Quite often in Ps, you duplicate a layer and change its blend mode to create an effect. For example, using a blend mode of softlight or overlay in increase contrast.
When you do this your filesize doubles as you have 2 layers with your image on.
A better method is just to create an adjustment layer. It doesnt really matter what type of adjustment layer, but i use 'levels' for some reason.
Don't make any adjustments, just add the adjustment...
