Having found out there are few issues with the d800 and cls, I'm looking into the odin.
I was looking for a more reliable outdoor solution anyway, and this has sped up my search,
A couple of questions....
I currently run 4 sb900s triggered by pop up Flash in a studio environment. I am going to be doing more location work and environmental portraits.
The odin seems the obvious choice, from reading reviews as it has all the basic functions, the main one being control from camera, whether that be TTL or manual.
For location shoots, I'd really only need 2 lights, so thinking the twin odin pack. Giving me full control and choice of TTL or manual.
With the odin setup, I'm presuming I could sell 2 sb900's and buy 2 cheap flash guns, (these are only ever used to light background, or a manual hair light.) and buy to 2 strato receivers to trigger them.
I'd end up with 2 fully remote controlled sb900's for location work and the ability to fire off 2 more guns, controlled only by changing settings on the actual gun.
This would cost about £450 for the triggers, but could swap 2 sb900's for cheap alternatives.
Would any cheap flash do the trick and work in a mixed system with the odin?
Do the strato have to be model specific, so would this work?
Is the pw flex system worth looking into?
I'd like control from the camera, TTL and manual and reliability, with 3 or 4 groups.
From googling the odin for research, it seems an odin2 might be round the corner. Any current users hoping for a new feature to be added, and if so what and why?
Cheers
