PHP scripting!

You might need to offer a little more information :) Scripting to do what or is it something you already have and want to change?

Thanks for a quick reply srichards.

I am updating my website, and adding a contact form.
But when I press the submit button I get this!!

64 || empty($exploded_email[1])){$errors[] = "Email address is invalid";}else{if(substr_count($exploded_email[1],".") == 0){$errors[] = "Email address is invalid";}else{$exploded_domain = explode(".",$exploded_email[1]);if(in_array("",$exploded_domain)){$errors[] = "Email address is invalid";}else{foreach($exploded_domain as $value){if(strlen($value) > 63 || !preg_match('/^[a-z0-9-]+$/i',$value)){$errors[] = "Email address is invalid"; break;}}}}}} } // Check referrer is from same site. if(!(isset($_SERVER['HTTP_REFERER']) && !empty($_SERVER['HTTP_REFERER']) && stristr($_SERVER['HTTP_REFERER'],$_SERVER['HTTP_HOST']))){$errors[] = "You must enable referrer logging to use the form";} // Check for a blank form. function recursive_array_check_blank($element_value) { global $set; if(!is_array($element_value)){if(!empty($element_value)){$set = 1;}} else { foreach($element_value as $value){if($set){break;} recursive_array_check_blank($value);} } } recursive_array_check_blank($_REQUEST); if(!$set){$errors[] = "You cannot send a blank form";} unset($set); // Display any errors and exit if errors exist. if(count($errors)){foreach($errors as $value){print "$value

PHP_EOL.PHP_EOL."-- ".PHP_EOL.""; $message = stripslashes($message); $subject = "FormToEmail Comments"; $headers = "From: " . $_REQUEST['email']; mail($my_email,$subject,$message,$headers); ?>

First line says the email address is invalid. Not sure whether it is referring to the one you have set it to be sent to or whether it is in a from field that a punter fills in.

could you post the whole script and delete any important bits like your password / username etc?

Of course.
Its from a website that has a "contact form" tutorial on it.

<?php

$my_email = "spencerwhite@blueyonder.co.uk";

/*

Enter the continue link to offer the user after the form is sent. If you do not change this, your visitor will be given a continue link to your homepage.

If you do change it, remove the "/" symbol below and replace with the name of the page to link to, eg: "mypage.htm" or "http://www.elsewhere.com/page.htm"

*/

$continue = "file:///C:/Users/home/Desktop/nightblog/nightblog/html/contact.html";

/*

Step 3:

Save this file (FormToEmail.php) and upload it together with your webpage containing the form to your webspace. IMPORTANT - The file name is case sensitive! You must save it exactly as it is named above! Do not put this script in your cgi-bin directory (folder) it may not work from there.

THAT'S IT, FINISHED!

You do not need to make any changes below this line.

okay I've gone through and there seems to be some spaces where there shouldn't be, can I send the amended code to your email as a php documents to give it a go?

The script is referencing a file on your c: drive and not on the web.

Sent from my iPhone using TP Forums

Many thanks for the help Sammy but to no avail.

I dont know if it makes a difference but I have not uploaded it to my web host yet.
(I'm still testing it on the laptop.)

Spence

I would test on a live web server to avoid any web / mail server config errors etc etc..

There are loads of contact form scripts around.

http://www.contactme.com/plugins do a few including one for a website. I use their wordpress one and it is pretty good. It has lots of extra features which you probably won't need!

You need to test them on your actual webhost to have any true idea whether they will work or not.

my gut feeling is that PHP isnt running

If this is the only PHP script on the site, test it out your server using the "hello world" script

Its also worth running the PHP info script and posting the result

If you are testing locally you should install Apache XAMPP (It's free of charge just google it) or similar to test. If you need server space as a "Sandbox" to test your files pm me as I have a Dedicated Server.

Disclaimer: I won't be charging for the server use or space just in case any trigger happy mod is watching. :)
