Probably more for Canon users -

Thinking of when I am out for a day and just want to take some snaps without having to worry about processing, I just use small jpg and have tried various picture styles plus a few of my own but I have not found a setting that gives me fairly bright colours.
Anyone like to share their settings that would give me a bit more oomph in the colours so I can see prety pictures (before I bin them ) without having to process them and use raw. I know I can use raw and process, but when I'm just out for a walk I just want to relax afterwards not process oodles of pictures!

I did try upping the saturation - got some interesting results :bonk: At first it did nothing then it went a bit mad

Susie,

It may be worth having a read through this and the various tabbed pages.

The body you're using and the monitor your looking at the shots on, together with your preference of saturation, contrast and sharpness could be well wide of the mark from other people....in short, you could be weird :cuckoo:

My advice is to take a "casual" shot when you out and then manipulate it to how you'd like it to have appeared "sans manipulation". It's then possible to save these settings to a picture style file which can be downloaded to the camera in one of the user defined styles....down the menu page showing the other styles.

You can save several different ones depending what you're shooting or how the light is during your stroll.....Cuckoo land is apparently cloudy, so mainly very dull I suspect :(

Worth a try me thinks.

Bob

 That looks perfect, I had no idea that existed :D

I hate to say it, but cuckoo land has been more sunny than my old abode plus it stays lighter longer in summer - you are certainly right about me being weird though

That's a brilliant link from Bob

I like my colours a bit brighter. In User Defined settings, try increasing the Saturation. +3 is pretty bright! And you can still go a bit higher, and/or increase Contrast also.

If you spend some time on your settings, and shoot a high quality JPEG alonside Raw, you might never have to post process an image again. TBH, I rarely do ;)

I doubt I would never have to pp an image again - would be lovely though  but for walkaround days it would be a great help :D I will try taking it out and shooting the same thing at different settings to see whats best!
