The instructions accompanying the package state:

"The PhotoKit™ bundle of PhotoKit 2.0, PhotoKit Sharpener 2.0 and PhotoKit Color 2.0 plug-ins are the same
versions as the most recently released commercial versions but can be installed without serial numbers or activation.
If your commercial versions are running you do not need to update to the freeware versions unless you need to
reinstall the plug-ins."​
