Sorry if this is in the wrong place, but I need some help asap :bang:

I have taken some pictures over the last couple of days in RAW, however when I go to put them onto my computer, it isn't recognizing them :bang:

How to I fix this?

Please help

Thanks

Is it, by any chance, the first time you've tried RAW? Have you installed canons own software supplied with your camera?

I use Windows XP.

I have downloaded the software that came with the camera however when I try to press on 'Digital Photo Professional' a menu pops up saying 'Open with' and a list of other programmes to open it with.

I tried the Canon codec download but that does the same. I double click on the file and the 'open with' window pops up again

Have you installed the software from disk or downloaded? Canon only supply updates through download, you need the original program off the disk.
Could be why it's asking top open with, as it's expecting the main program to be there.

I got it from the disk that was with the camera

Found Zoombrowser but again it comes up with the 'open file' window. Cant get it to open

have you installed zoom browser?

I think it might be best to uninstall the Canon software and reinstall it then see what happens.

Worse case you can download a 30 day trial of Lightroom which would open them.

Thanks all for the replies.

I was able to upload the pictures onto Photoshop Express Editor and can sort them all out from there. Still havn't uploaded them all as it is taking some time :bang:

This was a massive learning curve for me though and will not be shooting in RAW until I buy myself some good picture editing software and get my computer fixed :bonk:

Thanks for everyone who replied was much appreciated

If you've got Zoombrowser installed then you should be able to everything you need with the RAW files from within it. Rather than trying to open a RAW file *with* Zoombrowser, run Zoombrowser and navigate to the directory where the file is located using the file browser window, highlight the file you'd like to process and choose Edit->Process Raw Images.

Hi John, shame you're so far away or I could of had a look at your computer for you. I've got a lot of experience in fixing computers, been doing it for about 15 years or so altogether. You should do a full format and reinstall of windows 7, then install the programs 1 by 1 and make sure they open and work correctly before installing another. That way if you run into another problem you can restore it to a certain time before you installed the problem program. Just dont forget to save everything you need to before you format it.

Thanks for the advice

Will be doing a re-install in the new year as I have had enough of it not working properly. Hopefully it will be abit easier once it's done but havn't had the best of luck with computers

I use Windows XP..............

Yeah I have Windows 7. Tried the codec pack from Canon however it kept coming up with the 'open with' menu and just wasn't letting me use it.........

Hi

Are you running Windows XP or 7 ?

When you installed the sofware from the cd that came with your camera, did you go to Canon Europe Web site and install the updates that were available - I would recommend this, but as others have said, these are updates only from Canon and you need to have the originals installed.

Certiainly sounds like somethings missing from your programmes ???

Hope you get it sorted
