I used my Polarisering filter for the first time at the weekend and was a little suprised with the results!:'(

The pictuers seem to me as though they have a strong blue colour cast too them.

My question is "Is this normal and if not what measures do i need to take to prevent it?".

Is no.1 or no.2 the better picture?

I set the white balance to daylight!

Below are the same pic twice,1 straight out of camera with the colour cast and 2 colour cast corrected in PSE.

Any ideas greatly appreciated as i am very new to this!:)

A polariser darkens blues, so its likely that an image with lots of blue (sky and water) will look bluer. I'd ask why you felt the need to use a polariser at all, the shot doesnt seem to need it.. You havent spun it to reduce the reflection on the water, and the sky looks pretty flat, so A polariser wouldnt have done anything to it. A ploariser works best on a blue sky with nice clouds at a 90 degree angle to the sun, as it darkens the blue and makes the clouds pop out.
On a flat or gray sky, which looks like it was when this was taken, it wont really have any effect.

Saying that,
Out of the 2 pictures, the first looks better. The second is too yellow.

Thanks for that!
I was just trying to see what it did and following your reply I can see I need to wait for the correct weather conditions!
I only had a couple of hours on Saturday and was keen to try it out.

I was the same a few months ago and was trying it with everything, producing some pretty odd results
I might be wrong, but it looks like you were standing in shade too, under trees? I'd have thought this would have nulified any benefit you might have gained from it too

It's not where you're standing, it's what you're looking at.. ..
