Polariser funkiness

Playing around this afternoon as I'm BORED......:

I'm now hunting the house high and low for suitable plastic items..

Correct, used my PC screen (with a blank Word document as a background) as a light source and a circular polariser on my camera. Most hard / transparent plastics show some polarisation BUT polystyrene appears to work the best.

Only if they've been drilled / cracked / heated / stressed in some way - stress lines may show up under polarised light but no guarantees.
