Ive been asked by friends if ill take some portrait shots of them with there new born child, Now if i take them up on it what would i need as ive never done this before, im able to make a makeshift backdrop, but what colour backdrop would you recommend??? also ill be using a 400d, ive got 2 flashguns, and the best lens i have at the minute is the nifty fifty....:help:

I take it that they'd prefer more formal shots then? Have they told you exactly what they're after or have they left it to you to be creative?

I meant formal shoot lol, there leaving it up to me to be creative :gag:

That lens is fine, in fact its very much up to the job and with a couple of flashguns you're heading in the right direction. Do you have radio triggers, softboxes or umbrella's?

I guess the real question to ask is have they offered to pay for it? If the answer is yes, then refuse payment and do the shoot for experience and friendship. That way there is no pressure, and they lose nothing if your shots are not up to scratch.

That way there is no pressure

You think, there is always pressure, if your inexperienced (like me) there's always pressure, and so there should be to get great shots, not the excuse that "I'm inexperienced so bad shots are acceptable" you should shot to WOW people.

and they lose nothing if your shots are not up to scratch.

Only respect and faith in you that you messed up

Shoot to win, otherwise why bother.

We all have them, each and every one of us.

one good tip i can offer is to have the models stand away from the back drop as this will reduce/stop shadowing onto the cloth or whatever back drop you use.
