Posing male teens

I had my first family shoot lastnight, posing was easy enough with the group, the young kids and the girls but when it came to the teen boys I couldnt come up with decent poses for them without it looking really cheesy or feminine. We did get a nice shot in the end but getting into a flow was a struggle.

So has anyone got any tips/sketches/own examples/links to give me some ideas?

By teens I mean late teens so 18/19 and young 20's.

-Thanks

Beers and fags hanging out of every pocket should do the trick!

come on be realistic

i think something with attitude would work

i was told by a photographer to get a sunday newspaper or the wifes girly mags and cut out both male and female that posed in them weather it be adverts or just general cut the out and stick them in a scrap book then when you do it again ou can pick a varety of diffrent poses

I found trying a bit of 'gangster' look has served well this season (arms folded, at 45 deg to camera looking 'menacing') adit that some did look like door staff for mothercare but on the whole a popular look

you need to catch them doing something natural, in a pub or something, walking home things like that like a group playing x-box or whatever.

Try catching them mid conversation to give a more natural look. Maybe use a prop like a car to stand round or playing football etc. Something they are interested in!
