Of course I was doing some slow shutter speed panning when it happened so the shots of the actual crash are crap

It wasn't exactly a crash, because he kept racing and hold his position for a couple of laps more. Portuguese driver, of course. :D

....and 'they' issued you a media vest

Welcome to the forum btw

Some of these are amazing. Not so much because of what happened (although some of these crashes are spectacular) but because of the quality of photography. I just can't imagine taking a photo like this

One from me, shot hand-held at 1/50th sec (clicky for bigger version if you like).

I think it's great. I have no idea how this photo was taken. How can the car be so sharp and detailed yet the background is blurred? What settings did you use?

Car was wedged in the tyre barrier. Armco behind was pushed back and the sturdy wooden posts that holds it up broke. I got showered in gravel. Driver OK. Car OK (new nosecone needed - only £ 2000)

I got a print of this done (using free offers at Photobox it was cheaper to get extra prints done than not!) and gave it to the teams mechanics so seemed delighted with it.

Here are a couple from the SMRC event at Knockhill on 28th June 09. Turned round quickly to get these so a bit of processing required.

i havent had a decent crash shot in ages.. which is a good thing, because i wouldnt be shooting at a fast enough shutter speed to catch it anyway :)

Gaz, nice shot of Chris "i need a new shell after every meeting" Law in the Clio.

Didnt that one of the Halfords Honda get photo of the year in Motorsport News? Or am i completely imagining it?

a very very quick rushed edit!

From oulton park, blurry as was doing panning. But you can see what happened, luckily he was uninjured.
