Yes
well the end of the month is nearly here and on the 30th i will be purchasing a brand new shiney NIKON D300s with a Nikkor 16-85 VR lens !!!

soooooooooooooooooooo cant wait ohhh and im getting a MB-D10 battery grip for it all for £1500!

looked at the new D7000 and also the Canon 7D ...but the D300s felt the better camera of them all!

congrats from me also mate, what made you choose the 300s over the new boy 'all singing all dancing' 16.2 meg d7000?

Jon

my D300s arrives tomoz, deciding factors:

- Happy with my D90 IQ and iso performance, just dont need 16mp
- Brilliant focussing and 8fps with (cheap from ebay) grip
- Yet to see anything really conclusive about the D7000, worried about dead pixels
- solid build quality, extra AF button on the back, more body switches
- totally daft Nikon launch prices for D7000 and grip
- I do wonder whether 12mp is the optimum and 16mp is just to much, the 7D seems to have met a variable reception

Really wasnt an easy decision but I think I am right - for me, everyone has different views!

Kinda confirms my view!

Dave, What is the dead pixel issue with the d7000?

where did you find the best deal on the d300s?

jon

Jon, there is a thread on dead pixels. mainly seen on video and not a mega issue, but just one of the deciding factors for me.

D300s is £999 in park cameras etc, but I did much better..............will respond further tomoz regarding where I got it from but TBH I think now £978 is the best you will find - and frankly for a full pro spec DSLR it's a bargain....

reason for the D300s over the D7000 is mainly its brilliant track record, the 7000 hasnt reallly been tested yet! handled both and the 300s sits better for me also getting the battery grip ! 2 weeks and counting !

have found one for £949 !!!

Wont get better than that grab it while its still in stock. Nikon stuff is getting in short supply it seems
