Premium bonds winnings.

Well after a couple of poor months I had two numbers totalling £75, of course herself had to do better £150, but at back in the winners circle is good.

I got an email telling me I'd won today so I looked and found...

This is our second biggest win, the biggest being £275 in January this year. This is with £30k which was the most you could get at that time.

Mrs WW is in Thailand at the mo and I was on WhatsApp talking to her when the email came... "How much do you think we've won" I asked, I thought £25, she said "£200". So she's now called Mystic Mrs :D

The P/B draw will be on Tuesday, on account of Bank Holiday; so results will be out early on Wednesday.

If anyone is interested.
Guaranteed Growth Bonds (British Savings Bonds)
1 year fixed rate is 4.72% gross.

Mea culpa, you are quite correct.

Mrs C says that if I win £1K, I can buy a decent mobile phone that takes good photos.

We got £225 for August. We have had the bonds for 6 years and only not won once, which proves that the bonds are going into the draw but not coming up with any good wins. The best we have done so far is £1,050 I think. We have just topped up to the maximum allowed so we will see what September brings. I'm sure we would have done better investing elsewhere but it's the fun of the draw for us. My kids probably would have liked us to invested it elsewhere

I have had PBs for over 50 years and total winnings is heehaw!
You need a big chunk invested to stand a reasonable chance of winning, even then you’d probably do better putting the money into a decent savings account. The only real advantages to PB are any winnings are tax free, plus there’s always the remote possibility you’ll win big.

Your correct, you need a very large amount in PB to keep winning as some seem to do, but you really should only invest large sums after all the other tax free options such as ISAs have been maxed out . A cash ISA with 50K (the pb max) is going to pay out near £200 a month without having to cross your fingers and hoping Ernie picks you, but there is that very slim chance you could win big.

£250 this month :D

Exactly what I did aftre calculating my % for the year in PB.. now all in ISA .. At least this way I know how much and wheen.. It pays for a 2 week holiday galavanting around europe

A small amount in PB but not enough to win much apparantly :(

I just renewed my cash ISA, 2 years fixed 4.72% AER, tax free, interest paid monthly in to nominated account. That's with Charter Savings Bank, been with them for a few years now.

There are several slightly better 1 or 2 fixes if you want the interest at maturity. Always worth looking at the comparison sites. ( I normally use the Martin Lewis one, moneysavingexpert.com)
