Press Pass?

Clue is in the name - press pass, media pass - generally you need to be working for the press or media regarding coverage of that event.

Other photographers may be granted a pass based upon what they can bring in terms of coverage to the event.

I see so the events are basically only looking for photographers that will promote and advertise the event through their photos that will later appear in magazines, newspapers etc.
 
Yes, having the photos taken is no use unless they are going to be published where they will promote the event...
 
The best way is JUST ASK.

Just email the organizer and ask if it's OK to go and take photos, this will work for many many events, OK not Premiership soccer, but lots of other stuff.
 
For gigs, I just email the band.
Worked everytime for me. I even went on a tour around Europe on the bands bus, full expenses paid, plus got paid about 1000 euros. I didnt just do photos, but helped with set up and tear down of each show, but during the actual 3 hour set I got to take photos, not only in the pit but side of stage and behind stage. All because I asked.
