Printer doesn't recognise ink cartridge

Hi guys I have a Epson Photo Printer, I've put a new ink cartridge in the printer but it doesn't recognise the ink cartridge. What could the reason be? Could the ink cartridge be faulty? Sorry for asking a stupid question lol. Any advice, much appreciated, thanks :)

Is it a genuine Epson cart?

Is it properly seated in the holder?

Was there a bit of tape over the connector, and if so did you remove it?

Well, thats me out of useful suggestions then.

I presume it is the right cartridge for the printer?

I suppose I would clean the bit where the cartridge head goes in if it looks caked in dry ink, otherwise take it back and swap it.:shrug:
 
I've had them with the ' contact panel ' missing before. Probably not called contact panel but looks like a tiny PCB type thingy, hold it against your old one to see if anything is different. :shrug:
 
Nope,physically all look the same but they differ. What is the printer type? is the cartridge number compatible ?
