Have a problem occur with my printer this weekend and wondered if anyone else who has or has had the same make model etc and had suffered the same fault.

It's a Canon i9950 A3+ Printer (Picture below)

Problem is when it's turned on the power light comes on but the printer does nothing else! Even if you lift the lid to check the inks the print head doesn't move either!! It can't be turned off by the normal on/off button press, the buttons on the front panel do not respond at all (Not even pushing a piece of paper though if you press the paper advance button)

From the computer side of things the PC doesn't see the printer at all reporting that it's offline (although it is turned on and has power going to it)

I've done a few searches and have came up with very little.

Anyone suggest a solution??

This is the printer (with the light that stays on showing)

Try removing and refitting the print head (check contacts)

If that doesnt work it could be the waste ink tank full?

If that doesnt work try this
1. Turn off printer
2. Hold down Resume button and press Power button.
3. Keep holding down Power button and let Resume button go.
4. Press Resume button 2 times then let BOTH buttons go.
5. Green lights will flash and then stop blinking.
6. When green lights are solid, press the Resume button 4 times.
7. Press the Power button and the printer should turn off, if not, press the Power button once more.
8. Your printer should respond as normal.

Cheers for the reply..........

Can't get to the print head or cartridges as they are tucked away under the right hand side of the printer (probably where they reside when printer is not in use)

Tried the steps above and get to point 3. which actually turns the light on the front of the printer off  but then does nothing else I'm affraid

Stuck again.

Is this any different?

Start with the printer OFF

1. Hold down RESUME and then hold down POWER
2. release RESUME
3. press RESUME twice, then release POWER
4. Let green light blink until printer is done

That's what I was having to do TBH as I can't actually turn the printer off using the buttons, only unplug it from the mains 'so to speak'

Still point 3. and the light goes out .......... then nothing else.

when you hit resume once = yellow light hit resume twice green light?
then when both are released blinking green to solid?

if not try from the begining

Edit.....i had it on an older printer and it didnt work straight away cos my timing with the buttons was slightly out

Glad to say my i9950 is ok
