I've not been but I know several people that have. 28DL used to organise a group trip on an irregular basis and it was surprisingly cheap.

I have travelled Italy and Canada via airbnb. It was a little easier on the wallet.

The next time I go to Iceland it will be airbnb.

But seriously, I would really love to visit this location sometime. I love how nature's taking it back. I suggest you get a proper guide, with the proper safety/measuring equipment.
