Problem in CS5

Hi , probably a silly question to some, processing an image,using the brush tool and cannot get a circle,just "cross hairs",whats wrong,also when I get the box up to resize an image I cannot put any figures into it ,only the 1 and 0 work,any helpers, please, I am using CS5.

The cross hair problem is caused by the capitol letter key lock being on.
