Problems with a 1D mk4

Hi, during a weeks holiday my Canon 1D mk4 decided to pack up,less than 12 months old, the problem is that the camera is dead, two fully charged batteries and still no life,I know the camera should still be under the canon warranty (fingers crossed), as anyone else had this problem or know of somebody with either a 1D or other camera that has had this problem,and what was the fault ????? Thanks
 
Sometimes the microswitch on the memory card door sticks. Have you tried fiddling with this?

Otherwise it sounds like a circuit board fuse has gone. Easy enough to sort under warranty though.
 
It used to go with some of the older xxxd and xxd models but it's usually with age, to go on a 12 month old 1d4 I would think is fairly rare indeed!

It seems to be random, but Canon state that non oem batteries can cause it but I'm not entirely convinced by that one!

Are you using a genuine battery?

Could this be the first proven/provable case of the fabled 3rd party battery screwing up your camera myth?

I would never have a 3rd party battery ever again after the one i bought turned out not to be fully sealed to the camera and as such damp got in and the camera died.... even if i put the original battery in it was still dead because of the damp ... thus it took me ages to sort out what the problem was as it would start working again (no longer damp)
