Proposed lens collection for canon

I need to win the lottery, then I can just buy 1 of every lens, would make this easier.

Ok, I've made up a list of lens I need (yes need not want :lol:)

These will be for the 5D and the 50D backup and are ones that are within my budget as it stands.

Canon 50mm f1.4
Canon 24-105mm f4 L

and now the real kicker

Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM (just sold one, and then it clicked I should have kept it :bonk:)

With these 3 lens I should really be able to cover most stuff I do ok, short of shelling out for the 70-200 2.8 IS for motorsport.

Will these lens be ok on FF? the 50D will be going soon to get another 5D as well so I dont want to have to change my lens again soon. Other wise I'll get the riot act read to me :rules:
 
I know some pros that have that kit and do just fine, unless you shoot in ultra low light and can't use the flashes. 70-200mm f/4L USM can be just as good for most things, and if you get IS one its perfect. But for some reason we all want the ultimate f/2.8 IS.
 
I wasnt really trying to knock the f4 was just saying for some of the things i do the 2.8 is brilliant for example at 200mm shooting in bad light in snow the flash doesnt really do much and f4 would cause motion blur which isnt what i want.

Its why i was asking what the OP was doing, as he doesnt mention what kinda of photography he does/
 
Yeah, as said, depends what you're doing. I would've thought a 50D might be preferable to another 5D for motorsport as well.

You have a pretty useful range covered with those 3 though. The only thing being lens speed apart from the 50mm, but if you don't need it, you don't need. (Think about focussing speed and accuracy as well as the low light / DOF stuff).

Aren't you selling your 5D in the classified's saying that FF isn't for you? Interested on your thoughts on this as I am looking at a FF to complement my 7D.

Sorry for wavering OT a little!!

Yip - I cant make up my mind though :shrug:

I'm also considering getting rid of both bodies and getting a mk2 of Kerso.

I think I've got used to the 50D and thats why the 5D mk1 is suffering.

I don't know how much benefit you would get as I dont know what type of photography you do. Its a lot less mp than the 7D, and high ISO might not be as good.

You can buy mines and see how you get on if you want :lol:
