the games listed are only active when on the subscription, there are many other games you can purchase with PS+ discounts, these are still active when your subscription ends and yours to keep.
it might not be for you but certainly worth looking at.
The PlayStation Network is free. He might be thinking of the trial codes for X-Box Live than many X-Box 360 games have.
Have fun!
How much is a subscription if you dont mind me asking?
I thought all PS3 stuff was free to play online? Being an Xbox man obviously I pay for a years Xbox live (which you can get for about £30 a year now), its interesting to hear some publishers charge individually to play their games online via the Playstation network.
On Xbox live, you have to create an online 'account' to play BF3 etc,(probably with any EA game) but there's no extra charge.
I'm guessing thats because on the Playstation network they use dedicated hosts?
If more of them follow it could cost more than a years Xbox live to go online with the Playstation network!
strumstrum said:Fifa is the same on Xbox and PS3, you get an online code in the box with the disc which you put in to play online matches.. if you but a pre owned copy and the code has been used then you have to pay for an online pass..
its not a Xbox/PS3 thing its a publisher thing, and more and more are doing it to combat their loss of profit.
That's interesting. I'll stay clear of used EA games then. You can get Fifa new for about £20 from some online retailers. If you buy a used copy from say, HMV or Blockbuster, add the £7 or so on for the pass, you've paid as much as a new one!

you want to steer clear of all those on the pre owned market unless ridiculously cheap or you have no desire to play online.
Yeah lots of companies (xbox, ps3, pc, the lot) include a single-use code for online access to crack down on the 2nd hand market, or at least allow them to generate revenue from 2nd hand sales. It's a pretty cheap tactic if you ask me, but as I don't buy 2nd hand or sell games it doesn't actually affect me.
It seems to be the way all games are heading what with Steam being required for lots of PC games, constant internet connection required for others etc. It's all a bit of a joke. Especially when you consider the state a lot of games get released in. It's not unusual to have to wait a month after release for the 1st patches to come out and actually bring the game to a playable level.

Have a look at Farcry 3, reviews seem to be very good. Plus the single player game last more than 6 hours I believe.
Sony Playstation 3. One of those new (sic) fangled console things.

Picked up inFamous 2 for £15 at the weekend, been waiting years for that to drop to a reasonable price.
ghummy said:far cry 3 is absolutely gorgeous. the visuals are absolutely stunning however that is coming from the point of view from a hardcore pc gamer running the game in dx11 who's rig will play anything on ultra settings with an average. fps of 70-80.
my brother has it on the ps3. it still looks good however.
I have Far Cry 2 and although its gorgeous to look at and initially great fun to play, I got bored with the constant driving for miles between missions etc.
Is Far Cry 3 a lot better?

I know how you feel. If you fancy playing against someone who's equally rubbish, my PSN ID is Johnd2000. Although you should be warned that my 10 year old uses the same account and he WILL "own you" (to use his terminology).
I'd also recommend joining the Old Age Playstationers (OAP.org, IIRC). They're a good bunch of mature gamers (some good, some nearly as bad as me) who organise private games away from the great unwashed.
Hitman Absolution £19.99 @ Game/Gamestation and Amazon.....not sure for how long though![]()

The only game I play on-line really is MW3. I have played the other versions on other PS3s but get slaughtered within seconds. At least with MW3 I know the maps ###and the best places to hang out### and tips to rack up the scores faster.
Played Need for Speed on-line a few times but despite having the fastest car I still get lapped every time![]()
