I'm really rather chuffed. My seagull and white tailed eagle sequence made the Mail Online yesterday (here), the Sun online today (here) and Page 27 of today's Sun with a pretty big picture.

Paul

excellent picture.. never seen owt like that before (but not big on nature myself so...) .. seagull stealing from an eagle in flight.. special pics well done and no suprise published :)

Congratulations Paul - that's excellent news and very well deserved.

I know it's a bit mercenary to ask, but did you get paid for it?

Waheey, the old press publishing and payment 'discussion' will no doubt rear it's head again. Don't you know you're possibly taking money from proper photographers etc etc yawn. It's a sad reflection that when I saw the thread title, I already expected to find someone complaining about such if you hadn't asked for payment.

Wow great shot. Not often you get a shot like that!

Was it taken in the Lofoten islands? I saw a lot of those eagles when I was up there last summer.

and once again the DM commenters strike:

Photoshop.

and for once are met with comedy...

Photoshop.

There's always one on every article isn't there. Nothing better to say than 'photoshop.' If you're such an expert why not airbrush yourself a life?
:D

Excellent sequence and congratulations on the publish!

Well done Paul. A rare capture indeed.

I must say the Sun really did some good PS work over the Mail.

wow! excellent timing mate

Thanks all. It was in the fjords near Flatanger.

I have to say, I was disappointed with the Mail images and the Sun ones look much more like the ones I sent to the agency. I think the resize was done without resharpening for web resolution from the full size images on the Mail and they look somewhat muddy. Much happier with the Sun representation and the full width print copy looks great IMO.

What gear did you use to get the shot? Did you go out on a boat to take it? When I was there I read about a few places that would take you out in a boat to get closer to the action.

Congratulations - the Eagle/Gull shot was an awesome capture.

Those images really are worthy of publication.
Fantastic, congratulations are on order

Super pics and must feel pretty good to get published. Pity about the "pecking order" joke but I guess I will let you off with it

Thanks James.

Ryan - no worries, I didn't think of it as negative. If the nationals think pictures are worth printing and selling, I should be paid - end of. The fact an agency is handling all that side of things makes it easier...

Fab shots,

none of my business but why are an agency involved.

so does that mean you are getting paid if an agency is handling it? more to the point are they?

I think they would have been published if you had asked for payment, they are one off fab shots

Hence my smile.. we all know they are coming.. its just when :)

:D

Yes Dave, both the agency and I get a share. They provide the story and I provide the pictures and they own syndication across all markets not just the UK. The logic is that they should get better coverage than I can on my own and that way we both benefit.

I may have successfully got them published myself but probably not as widely.

Paul

Excellent shots, must have been amazing to see.

Did you approach the agency with the pictures or did they see them elsewhere and approach you to syndicate?

It was a great moment certainly. I was approached by the agency after they had seen the images online.

Nice one Paul, great shots and we all know your age now :D

Liam - LOL. I was 37 when the pics were taken though ;)

Congrats Paul. More lucky shots I see.....

Cheers Neil. Luckily, I do seem to be going through a lucky patch at the moment. :)
