Tamron 24-135 or Nikon 80-200 f2.8?

I know the Nikon is great - but it's heavy.

I haven't tried the Tamron in anger yet but seems sharp enough, and it's small & light.

I guess most of the shots I'll get are city/landscape/night scenes (I intend to take a tripod). I'll also take the Tamron 17-50 which is great & sharp.

Im airing to the side of the Tamron as I doubt if I'll need 200mm, but more important the weight issue, but I could regret not having the IQ

Just wanted to gauge your fine views?

The Tamron 24-135 is very good, certainly on full frame (Sony A900 or Nikon D700), 24mm at the wide end is good enough for large landscape prints, and the tele end is also excellent as well.

Certainly on a full frame camera is a no-brainer choice - superb sleeper lens.

TBH though your "vs" choices are a little odd - they are really totally different lenses, so I think you need to figure out what you are really trying to do.

Cheers for the reply - I was trying to cover a broad a range as I could - nothing more specific as the trip will be a usual mix of town/cities and landscapes.

I envisage using the 17-50 most of the time, with the 24-135 when more range is required.
