Right I'm off rallying tomorrow (not sure if I am going to get a chance to snap a few shots yet but need to be prepared:lol:!) I want to get a few Pics of my OH as hes doing the event so would love to get a nice shot!

My question is what should is the best shutter speed for this sort of picture?

I don't have much play with change as I'm only using a Fuji FinePix S5800, also what about the ISO? I can go form 64 -1600..I'm guessing it will be a bit grey and maybe even wet/damp so not sure on settings!!

Any help much appreciated!:D

I would suggest starting at around 1/320 and moving up and down from there. Set your iso to compensate for the lack of light if you use a faster shutter.

experimentation is the key, a slowish pan (1/200th or slower shutter speed) will (with practice) allow you to get some good motion into your shots but will blur all but the intended subject (including any rocks or mud thrown up) whereas a fast shutter speed will allow you to freeze everything in the shot including any flying stones for a dramatic shot. its experimentation really to find which one looks best.

at this time of year i think a reasonably quick shutter (just enough to blur any wheel motion) can look very spectacular with lots of water/mud/stones being thrown up by the car.

good luckand good luck to your otherhalf in the rally itself.

oh and wrap up warm, its ****ing freezing out there!
