Ok we have all been where I am at now, it is one of those days when you get an idea in your head and it will not go away.

I have a 7D camera would like to go full frame but feel my 7D is a much better camera than the 5D MKII so happy to carry on with this until Canon bring out the next generation of 5D.

I have 2 very good Canon tele lenses and a 1.4 extender, 70-200 F2.8 and 300mm f4 IS.
I have been using a Tamron 17-50 f2.8 VC lens which to be honest I cant fault as a walk about lens, however recently I have decided to get a 24-105 IS lens and have made an offer on one here.

When I finally get one for a sensible price I can’t make up my mind if I should keep the Tamron for the 17 to 24mm or sell it and get a EF-S 10-22 to widen my lens choice.

If you had to choose between a Tamron 17-50 and a Canon 10-22 which would you go for and is the Canon worth the extra £200 investment or am i just looking for an excuse to spend money?:help:

Personally, I think it may pay you to wait until you have got the 24-105 in your sticky little mitts. Then decide whether you really do need the wider end. Or, have a look at your pics and you can use a programme, someone will know what it's called, so see what your focal length use is. It may be that by doing that you will see that you won't lose the wide end as you don't currently use it much.

Would I buy a 10-22? No, as I didn't get on with the whole UWA thing. I found I used it just to get the whole building (or whatever) in the shot. The pics were as dull as ditch water.

depends on several things...

Do you need the f2.8 on your tamron? And how often do you shoot wider than 24?

For example, when I had the kit lens, I always felt limited with the 18mm and found myself often trying to rotate the zoom ring to wider fl. :D

I use a combo of 10-22 and 24-105 but I am personally a landscape guy, so wider the better for me :D

Sigma 10-20 would be a bit cheaper than the Canon UWA, worth a look.

Couldn't agree more, sold my 10-20mm for exactly the same reason, just ended up with lots of nothing. (got some nice shots of my feet though :))

17-50 is no more comparable to a 10-22 than it is to a 70-300. Completely different lenses for different purposes. Have you tried them side by side?

Wait till you get the 24-105, then start looking at what's available to you if you need something a bit wider.
One thing to note is that the EFS lens won't work on the 5D if you decide to get one as it's the wrong mount.
