raw problem

I always shoot in raw + jpeg, but while converting the raw files i noticed if i zoomed in the picture was a little mottled, where as with the jpeg it wasnt, i have attached a couple of large crop zooms to show what i mean, am i doing something wrong, or is this how raw files are before pp?

Probably needs a bit of noise reduction added. The JPG will be processed heavilly, by the camera, where as the RAW isnt.
