It's been a very frustrating few days trying to sort out a new look for my blog. However, I think I'm finally there. I've tested for broken links, bugs etc and it's at the point where I think it's pretty safe to unleash for it's real test...going live! :eek:

So here it is, my new look blog.

If you have any major issues please do let me know, I fully expect there to be some problems that I have overlooked!!!

not got time for a decent look around and i was thinking "not another blog!"

But yours actually looks really good. I shall have a browse tomorrow IF the other half lets me have 5 mins to myself on my only day off!
 
Looks very good to me, whats the theme you have you used?

Your might consider adding some personal info to the "This is me" section. At the moment its just about your equipment and I am sure you are really a human :)

Fantastic blog..looks really professional. Great photos on it and the articles are well written.
 
Nice blog! I really like the featured article bit at the top of the homepage.

I take it this blog is aimed at other photogs rather than customers?

One thing I am not too keen on is all the links away from your site.

Are you using Wordpress.org for this, have you done a lot of manual customisation, or are they mainly plugins?

The About Me text that brings the menu down is clickable (anything that highlights in red is a link) and takes you to a full page all about me, the Gear List and Contact links are extra bits to break my info down in to chunks :)

The theme is Church by Studiopress.

Yep, the blog isn't really for commercial use. Although the old one managed to get a me some customers anyway so I'm hoping it will continue to do so now it's a bit more nicey nicey looking lol

All the links away from my site? The only links away from my site are either a) the ones in the links section and b) to companies you can buy the products I review or to their official websites, but that is just part and parcel of the reviews. The whole site is designed as a bit of a resource to help others so links are a part of that :)

Yep Wordpress.org. I did a LOT of manual tweaking from the original theme yes. My god I have dreamt about CSS and PHP for the last week!!! lol. I have about 9 plugins running at the moment.

Quick question, when you hover over the nav menu, are the drop downs solid dark grey with white uppercase text that turns red when you move the mouse over it...

or

Menus are light grey with lower case and no turning red?

For some reason, I've just been looknig here at work and the menu us appearing as per options two when it should be like option one! Not sure why it's changed since this morning?!?
 
A good job Richard. The new theme for the blog has worked very well. The only thing is that you have made me want to change mine too.
 
I like it. Well laid out, nice structure, everything in a grid and most importantly content. I read through a couple of articles. Nice lengths. I hate long articles. Short and succinct. Looks good.

I'm a big fan of wordpress and choosing and customizing a theme is the hardest part but i think you've done a great job :thumbs:
