I'm looking for a do it all tripod and head, budget up to about £100 or so. I don't plan to carry it for miles on end, so I don't need the lightest thing going. Any recommendations please ?

I have to say if you plan on it geting its feet in mud water sand then you need one with the bottom legs on teh outside and not goin up inside with all the muck and water. My tripod is just like this a Uni-Loc also the Benbow are the same type with this tripod you can make it work all most anywhere high or low on right on the floor take a look with the link

Another shout for Redsnapper, I don't own one (yet!) but I have used one and they are very good for the cash.

Another vote for Redsnapper, I actually prefer it to the Manfrottos I've owned and used.

After a lot of reading on here I've now gone for the Redsnapper offer that is on at the moment. I wish I had been around here a bit longer so I could go for the 10% discount but there you go. Also found Kerso on here so a 430ex and a 50mm 1.8 is also on it's way! Damned expensive forum this... ;)

 geeso the prices of them, get on ebay mate mega bargains to be had ;)

I was very impressed with the redsnapper tripod, arrived next day, extremely well built for the money. I am mounting a 2000mm telescopic (telescope) lens on it, and its dealing with the weight perfectly. Yes, there are cheaper ones out there (like the £30 rubbish you can get from jessops), the RS283 I ordered is well worth the cash :) (cheap compared to similar products)

I bought a slik 700. It was £89.99 delivered and came with a decent head. It also accepts all decent quality heads.

I had a slik that I broke various bits off but had for 20 years. I replaced it with a Redsnapper CF and it's brilliant.

I would look at the manfrotto deals that are on at the moment, some good savings to be had.

I had only been here a few days and I got the 10% on my Redsnapper Monopod and ball head.

I emailed my user ID and got the discount no issue.

Cheers
