Given I am now working at home for a while, I could do with a new PC, something like a i9 and a quadra graphics card and 32gb ram. I need the spec to run some image processing software, but want something that will run Lightroom and Premier when I go back to work. The spec I have sorted but I am looking for suggestions for a supplier Scan, Chillblast, Dell... Any suggestions (or recommendations to avoid) would be welcome.

3 years ago a bought a hi-spec machine from https://www.box.co.uk/ They essentially built me a gaming PC that is virtually silent (my specification), I don't play games, but do have 2 x 4K monitors so decent graphics performance is essential. It runs as fast now as it did when delivered, and has been faultless. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

Novatech in Portsmouth AFAIK have always been a "go to place" I used to know an company IT director who regularly bought special builds from them.

My mate recently used chillblast and is more than happy with the kit and their service.

I prefer someone who has a visitable premises and is fairly local, for me that is CCL, I'm going the self build route though, so using them for parts and advice. I'm happy so far.
I've had 3 Dell laptops and each has been worse than the last in build quality. I've had to replace the screen on the latest one and unistall a load of preloaded and 'auto update added' crap that slowed it to a crawl. It also suffers from the apparantly common Dell issue of "unrecognisable power supply". I won't use Dell again.

Another vote for Novatech, had a machine built last year, absolutely spot on, arrived on time and had no problems whatsoever.

I have had Palicomp.co.uk build two machines recently. Once for my own setup and once for my Daughters. Managed a bit of negotiation both times spent £750 on mine and £1000 on my daughters. but could quite easily have spent far more on the same spec elsewhere.neither of us have had the slightest problem.

I have used Chillblast 3 times and aim buy again from them. Not the cheapest, but excellent service.

I've use Scan for components for over a decade and they're relatively local to the OP if he has problems.

I used PC Specialist when I chose my last PC. This was now almost 8 years ago. The PC still performs well and when I do eventually need to replace it, I would strongly consider them again. You select the various parts and they ensure that you can only choose compatible parts. When I reached the end of the process they confirmed that the design was fine but pointed out that I had chosen a higher rating power supply than necessary and could save money by selecting a lower rating. This seemed an honest approach though I chose the overrated power supply intentionally because this is often the weakest point so stuck to my selection. I noted that the system included 3 fans, one for the processor, one for the power supply and one for the overall casing. The fact that I have had no problems convinces me that it was a good overall choice.

+1 chillblast, used them recently to replace my 8 year old pc. I called to ask about tweaking one of their standard mods on their website, no problem and quoted within an hour. Turned the build around promptly and works perfectly.
