I'm sure this topic has been bought up before, but I am after some recommendations for file recovery software.

I use a Mac, but also have a PC, so the platform isn't important, but I need to recover some NEF files from an SD card. I had a disaster and deleted them from my computer before I backed them up. Stupid I know, but I know which SD card they were on.

I have used a couple of programmes before, but wondered if anything else is available.

    Thanks

    Gavin

On a Mac I've used DataRescue, but it costs...

Also, SanDisk cards give a code for a year's free RescuePro. I have a code I've never used. It is PC software and I don't know if the code will work.

Sandisk RescuePro - shout if you need a code - I have a few spare as we buy quite a lot of Sandisk SD cards

Whatever you do don't bother with this https://www.easeus.com .
You download the trial, it finds files it says it can recover and then you have to buy it before it tries to recover files so you don't know if it works until you have bought it

PhotoRec can deal with some degree of file fragmentation and a broader range of file formats, so might be worth trying if the free version of ZAR has failed.
