I bought a cheapy remote shutter cable from Ebay a few weeks back and its wrong, it doesnt plug in anywhere to the camera body.
I cant find the packaging now so bit late to send it back so anyone reccomend somewhere to get one that works??

Am I right in thinking that if the camera is set to bulb I use the remote to open the shutter then again to close it?

Thanks. :)

Get yourself a little remote...Nikon ML-L3, not expensive, works a treat.

Explanation is on pages 73 & 74 of the manual.

Can't speak for the D7000, but I bought one for the D90 and the cable plugs into the GPS socket. As I recall it doesn't look like it should fit, but it does, and it works fine, I just took a guess that's where it went :)

Ah, maybe I didnt try the GPS socket. Good job I didnt bin it, I will give it a go thank you!

Sure mine fitted into a strange place too - as above, it looked like no, but went in fine!

if its got the small rectangular plug (bit like a mini usb) it plugs into the D7000 under the lower rubber flap on the side - if you look closely it shows a pic of a remote along with GPS.

If you've got one with a round plug you will be in bother as these are for the older D300's etc.
