I have just connected my Hahnel Remote Cord (universal for Nikon) to the ten-pin terminal on my D700 for the first time and nothing happens.

What am I doing wrong? Do I need to configure something within the camera? :$

Not sure if this helps you out - prob wont:

I have the Yongnuo YN126 wireless for mine (plug in the receiver via 10 pin terminal) & click the remote & fires the shutter - I didn't have to anything menu wise....

Does it need new batteries

That is exactly what I have tried. Once plugged in, click the remote and the camera doesn't respond. It doesn't need batteries either. While connected, if I use the shutter button on the camera, all works fine!

It's probably an obvious solution.

Another daft question- Are you sure its compatiable with the D700

Is it a HK ebay job - maybe its faulty....

Have you set the camera to remote mode?
Its on the drive menu/button.

Assuming it's one of these, have you made sure a) that there are batteries in both parts and b) both are switched on?

I had someone return a similar product claiming it was faulty (apparently confirmed by Jessops) and that's what the problem was, they hadn't switched it on......

Graham, the remote is a corded one, so is basically one part and doesn't use batteries.

My money would be on the 10 pin plug not being correctly seated in the socket. It's supposedly not easy to get it in in the wrong orrientation but it is possible and won't make the right connections. They're quite a good fit, so even when it's right it may not feel like it.

..... Been searching and came up with these: Hahnel prob & TP thread

Did find the same prob on Nikonians (what ever it is) but as I aint a member it wont let me view it....

To me it seems that it maybe the remote itself thats at fault....

Ahh, ok...

Re the Nikonians problem, simply (assuming you're using Google) click on "Cached" and it will bypass the need to sign in to the Nikonians site ;)

 cheers for that...

Just a quick question, slightly off topic, has anyone managed to use the yungnuo rf-602s as remote shutter releases on a d700?

I got a set but the cable that came with the trigger/receiver has a 10pin connector on one end but the 3.5mm connector on the other (the pin connector fits into the receiver).

Could I just use a pc to pc cable?

It should have a 10-pin at one end and an RF-602 3-pin at the other, if it doesn't then it's not the correct cable for the RF-602....

After all that there wasn't an answer to the question on nikonians

this is what I have:

I think this cable is used to connect the receiver to a studio head. So to connect receiver I need a 3pin to 10pin cable or to connect transmitter directly a pc male to male cable.

Yup, that's the studio lead....

It certainly isn't faulty as it works on the D90. Probably a problem with the actual ten pin attachment.

Thanks for the help guys, I will keep trying different things out.

It's universal - you just change the input attachment, hence why I think this maybe the problem.

I know it sounds silly, just make sure its seated fully into the 10 pin connector, thay can be damn cussed and if its slightly wonky they just don't work...I know this...from experience :bang:

If you have the back button only AF system going, it won`t work.

Have fiddled around with the ten pin to ensure it is fully in. Also, have camera set up for shutter and back button AF.

Don't really won't to splash out on another release but it maybe the only option. Is there anything else within the menu I should try playing around with?

Can`t think of anything else TBH.........
