Great service I found when needing my 50mm 1.4 fixing. Cost £100 though, so it's not a cheap thing to have done, but worth it if it's a good lens.
I think they're one of the ones most people mention with regards to Canon repairs

[Hmm, their website looks offline at the moment. DNS issues :/ ]

Thanks for that

Web site is down, will give them a bell tomorrow

Anyone else any other recommendations

I send mine to canon at elstree.

Thanks

Tried to phone them today and got through to cuctomer service, who recommended Lehmanns, Fixation, Colchester for repairs - will give them a bell

There is a chap in Oldham (A J Dufton I think), might give him a bell as well - anyone used him

They must have got busy? I sent them 2 bodies last Monday and got them back Thursday.I would stick to one of ther repairers.

We send ours to Canon in Elstree. They've generally been pretty quick - one time they were very busy so they sent it over to Colchester Cameras so that it would be fixed faster. The quality of the repairs we've experienced is impeccable.

I wouldn't look beyond Canon and their authorised service centres. The list is here.

I've used Fixation a few times and very happy with the service but Lehmanns and Colchester also have a good reputation. As Stewart says, stick to the authorised centres.

Sent my 50mm f1.4 to Colchester Cameras and i have to say so far im not impressed, to be fair i have not got it back yet, i phoned them last week and they said post it in with a cover note stating that im a member of CPS, which i did (next day delivery) after two days i phoned only to be told that they have not even looked at it?? so i told them i thought it was a 7 day turn round if you are with CPS? they said they didnt know i was with CPS even though i put my details on the cover note, after 5 days i phoned again to be told they will send the estimate the next day in the post, even though i asked them to phone as i wanted it back asap, they said i could try phoning the next day for the cost, which i did, total bill.. £125, it better be a bloody good repair.

I sent my 70-200 to Colchester, they had it five or six weeks and could not find anything wrong with it so sent it back unrepaired - guess what happened as soon as I put it on the camera.

When my 100-400 needed fixing last week after being hit by the swan I took it to Techpro (same address as MXV Cameras in Uckfield, Sussex). They looked at it immediately, ended up having to do a little panel beating job on it and I collected it less than 24 hours later and used it all weekend at the Polo. Very impressed - £60 plus my travelling and I have my lens back.

are you guys members of CPS?
4 and 5 weeks does seem like a long time if you are,
is there a standard to keep to if you are dealers for the club?

Follow up post...
Just phoned Colchester to see if there is any progress on my lens,
"what lens?" was the reply???
after 5 panick struck minutes they found my paper work, "we havent gone ahead with the work as we are awaiting payment",
by now im really ****ed "yes you have, i paid by card 28th"
they cant find the paper work for that too!!
they take my number (they lost that too) and promise to phone back,
this makes a mocky of the CPS services, for pro's? more like for mugs.

I was told in a lot of cases selling the 'broken' lens on eBay and then buying a new one (or a working second hand one) is less costly than simply having it repaired.

I recently made a friend who works for a Canon repair shop who said he can fix pretty much any normal lens. I'm glad I met him!
