Been asked to do a job over the next few weeks for a local restaurant chain, they want some arty shots of their food and locations for future promotional use!

Am spending 2 days with them visiting the various locations also going to the farm where they get their veg from to get some digging up shots!!

Any tips/ideas/links???

Never done anything with food before.....

Food photography like any other photography needs quality lighting. Whether that is daylight or studio light you choose. A macro lens is a very useful lens when shooting plates of food.

For other images it depends on the feel you want to create

so how did you get the job?

Got the job via a close friend who is their marketing manager, didn't know whether to do it or not but then she showed me some photos that they had done about a year ago which the owners love, this gave me much more confidence as they looked like they'd be taken with a camera phone!!!!

It's all about who you know. From your OP the concern was that you might not be equipped or experienced enough to do the job - produce an inferior result and the client then be put off using a professional (charging) photographer again. From their past experience it would seem this is not the case! Good luck with it - and let's see some of the pics in due course.

i have read food is notorious next to cars for cleanliness and lighting
as for the digging up...dynamic postures would be good
