thanks all,chris.

There was a TP meet in Richmond Park a few weeks back to see the Red Deer rutting.
We parked up at Pembroke Lodge and trekked for about 15 minutes before we saw them.
It's a bit hit and miss but the deer will be anywhere and you've got to start somewhere!

Another place I go to is the car park by Roehampton gate but this is usually when I'm looking for birds.
It's best to get there as early as possible as it becomes full of Yummy Mummies taking the lab for a walk and braying loudly to each other or barking into their Blackberries.

You may also want to consider Bushy Park which is my local one. It's smaller than Richmond Park but you can get much closer to the deer.

Do be aware that right now the stags are in 'defend my territory against all-comers' mode, and may decide you are a threat. They may start acting aggressively towards you, and that's the time to beat a hasty retreat.

Another vote for Bushy Park, or even Home Park (Hampton Court's back garden) across the road.
