Hi all,

I've got a Lowepro Nova 200 AW for my gear at the moment but it's getting a bit tight space-wise and I'm getting too lazy to lug it about on my shoulder to weddings etc.

I'm in the market for a large, secure roller bag. Not really bothered whether it's a hard shell type like a Peli Case or soft like the Lowepro Pro Roller. I like the ThinkTank range of rollers but can't envisage myself ever dropping over £500 for one.

Any recommendations that won't require me to re-mortgage? :)

All my roller cases are Peli's.

One great thing about them is that they are so strong
I can stack them flat and climb on the pile!

Thanks! I'm sure that's the one I wanted but saw it somewhere for about £500 and gave up on the idea.

That link shows it at £289....

Your other option is a big rucksack style and one of those little bag trolly things.

At £289 it's got me thinking too, but if I buy another camera bag I think the divorce may be rather expensive !!

I've got a lowepro roller, which if you're interested I'll put up in the for sale section?
It also has a bit to put your laptop (15"), the dragging handle slots back into the body, and it also has shoulder straps to act like a rucksack which tuck neatly away.

Just a little update. I decided to go large and ordered the Lowepro x300 AW. It's an absolute beast and came within two days from these guys with quite a massive saving compared to buying elsewhere:

It's a great bag, I used mine solidly for 5 years before selling it when I stopped weddings. Always reliable and tough and holds tons. I'm sure you'll love it too! Enjoy [emoji2]

Cheers Phil - it's already easier not having to distribute my gear throughout half a dozen separate bags. Can't wait to put it through it's paces at this weekends wedding.

If you are going to take it on a plane - the bag alone weights 6.6 kg

If I ever become a 'destination wedding photographer' I'll maybe invest in something a bit more compact (the Think Tank Airport International, or similar). From what I've seen so far, packed the right way, I think this would survive admirably in the hold as checked baggage rather than carry-on.

In the hold? I am sure I have read pros on here saying they never put their gear in the hold. If I had to, I would want a hard case like a peli, I think.

I can quite imagine it gets thrown around and bounced off things (even with the fragile label on). The case really is built solidly though and has enough extra dividers to double up and wrap around things for extra protection and the combination lock seems secure enough.

But the likelihood of me shooting a wedding abroad in the next year or so is slim to none so it shouldn't be an issue :)

hi,

I bought one of these cases hard shell for sports photography and its cheap price and great quality, comes with pick and pluck so you can mould for your equipment too.

many other sizes on offer to.

Again it looks like it weights 7 kg ... weight is quite important to me ........ I can easily have over 12kgs of kit when travelling - (300mm f2.8, 300mm f4, 70 200, 16 35, 50mm, D810, D750, M8 + 28mm, a few batteries, lightweight tripod, etc., etc.)
